wvu bowl games
Playing in bowl games has become the norm in Morgantown these days, but for the longest time post season games were few and
often far between. When was the first time that West Virginia earned bowl berths in back-to-back seasons?

Don Nehlen's West Virginia Mountaineers earned a trip to the Peach Bowl following the 1981 season, and they destroyed the heavily
favored Florida Gators 26-6. The following year, the Mounties were selected to play the Florida State Seminoles in the Gator
Bowl, and for the first time in school history West Virginia had been rewarded with back-to-back bowl berths. Not to be
outdone, Nehlen's teams in 1983 & '84 also played in and won bowl games, completing a four year stretch of regular and bowl
season success never before enjoyed in Morgantown.
