Who were the first pair of brothers to score an offensive and defensive touchdown for the Mountaineers in the same game?
On 25 September 1993, the Mountaineers clobbered the Missouri Tigers 35-3 in a soaking rain at Mountaineer Field. The first score of the day came in the form of a second quarter touchdown pass, Jake 'The Snake' Kelchner to tight end Charles Washington from 4 yards away. Later in the fourth quarter, to complete the Mountaineer scoring, brother Vann Washington picked a Missouri pass and returned the rock 27 yards for six to push the West Virginia lead to 35-0. The two touchdowns marked the first time in WVU football history that two brothers had scored on offense and defense in the same game. In blowing the game open the Mountaineer defense scored touchdowns on consecutive plays from scrimmage- Washington's interception return came just 8 seconds after Mike Collins had stripped a Missouri fumble and raced 97 yards for a score.
