Murat Tercan

Who holds the WVU record for the longest field goal at Old Mountaineer Field, and what was the distance?

A check of the official records indicates that Ken Juskowich (vs. Kentucky in 1968) and Bill McKenzie (vs. Maryland in 1977) share the record for the longest WVU field goal at Old Mountaineer Field with a length of 49 yards. However, according to school records, the longest field goal in a game at Old Mountaineer Field was kicked by Morgantown High graduate Murat Tercan. The distance of the field goal was 52 yards, and Tercan made the kick in the final game played at the old stadium. But if you check the box score of the November 10, 1979 home finale against Pitt, you won't find a Tercan 52-yarder listed. So when did he set the record? During the 1980 spring game- the final time the Mountaineers ever played a football game on the downtown campus.
